Looking South To Stanage Popular

This image is of Stanage Edge, Derbyshire. The mile long gritstone outcrop is a mecca for English climbers and in the late afternoon sun in March, was a beautiful place to climb. This was my first attempt with soft pastels, however I ended up using coloured pencil to bring out the details as such it certainly looks more like a drawing than of a pastel painting. A para-glider is just visible in the distance. Stanage Popular and Higgar Tor both jutting out in the distance also.

A Climber heads towards Block Buttress, Gower

Beautiful coastal cragging on the beaches of South Wales. Having a huge tidal beach as a backdrop makes climbing here really special. My first all soft-pastel piece drawn on 300mmx400mm PastelMat.

Admiring Jenny's Cove

The wild and remote feeling Jenny's Cove on Lundy Island. Here a visiting climber admires the granite zawns and pinnacles of this spectacular coast. Soft Pastel on 300mmx400mm PastelMat

Approaching The Ben

The complex North Face on Ben Nevis is a complete contrast to the bland slope of the walkers path on the south side of the hill. Here the buttresses, gullies and ridges stand tall giving climbers masses of fun and adventure. Here a climber walks in to solo climb Tower Ridge (centre right). The huge wall of The Orion Face clearly visible above some lingering snow. Soft Pastel on 300mmx400mm PastelMat
