Strange & Surreal....

Natures Eye

Inspired by nature this weird hand is both surreal and quite creepy. I love how it turned out and it was lots of fun to produce. Soft pastel, coloured pencil and oil pastel.

Eye

My first piece using oil pastels is simply an image of my eye. It got me really into using oil pastels. They are much less hassle than paints but have equally vivid colours. This came out really well.

Missing Pieces

I really got creative on this piece. Done with oil pastel on A1 red paper

State of Collapse

This piece really evolved as I was creating it. I used soft pastels for the background and oil pastels for the collapsing face. Boulders are strewn around the landscape - inspired by a recent climbing trip to Fontainebleau, France.

Geological Time

Inspired by geology and the beautiful Greek Islands this odd piece is hard to explain. The island of Tolendos is seen on the horizon.

Fragmentation

How or why this piece turned out how it did is a mystery. With no real direction the fragmented face found itself floating in a hole in a brick wall. Done using oil pastels, graphite and coloured pencil this is a weird piece but quite effective.

Non-Symmetry

I created the reference image for this digitally. The final image is pastel and coloured pencil.

Interconnection (Unfinished)

I'm still figuring out this piece of intertwined, overlapping faces. It isn't popping off the page like I had hoped. I have put it to the side for now. Hopefully some inspiration will grab me and I will finish it off.
