Eyeball

 

I created this sketch with coloured pencil and used a combination of photos for reference. I'm pleased with the result. The Iris of the eye really draws you in.

Self

 

A self portrait of sorts (though mainly of my ear). This beige pastel paper worked well with soft pastelly pencil hues. It was mainly done with coloured pencil though white chalk pastel and even oil pastel bring out the highlights.

Hand

 

This was an easy one to find a photo reference for. I simply took a photo of my hand playing my Guild D40 acoustic guitar. Good practice and it came out well.

Magazine Sketch

I copied this image from an newspaper advert for shampoo. It was a practice sketch using graphite only.

Bedouin

Probably my first serious sketch. This Bedouin really got me hooked on drawing. The face is so weathered and aged it was a perfect little project for a novice.

Portrait

 

My first attempt at sketching on black paper is definitely a mixed result. I will admit the image adds 10 years to me. I had real trouble drawing on black paper as the white pencil didn't want to adhere to the paper and I had to push extra hard to get the powder to stick. Despite these obstacles I am somewhat satisfied with the result.
