Zion Park and climbing in Moab

Biking and hiking around the amazing Utah landscape followed by some of the best roadside cragging anywhere…Wall Street.

I made the long drive to Utah after picking up a hire car in Vegas. With a couple of days to kill before meeting up with Geoff l made a quick stop at Zion national park. Zion is a sandstone Yosemite. Towering red walls dominate the landscape. No climbing for me unfortunately here as l had an appointment in Moab. I did the hike/ Scramble up to Angel's Landing (Yak Trail) before setting off the following morning for Moab...

Moab is a town in the middle of nowhere. It is also one that is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts. With world class climbing all around and some great biking, canyoning and hiking it definitely had its selling points...

Biking on Slick Rock Trail

Slick Rock Mountain bike trail - Biking on pristine sandstone

Finally meeting Geoff  (another Camp 4 belay buddy) after a day doing the Slick Rock bike trail, we headed to one of the local crags. Wall Street is about as convenient as roadside cragging gets. It’s literally possible to belay out of the car. A good mix of sport and single pitch trad meant for a good day getting some mileage in. The Moab scene is so friendly and the crags are super sociable....

We bagged a few Potash Road classics such as....

30 Seconds of Potash  5.8
Lacto Mangulation 5.10b
Lucy in the Sky with Potash 5.10a
Nervous in Suburbia 5.10a
